If you are having building work carried out at your property and you are not fully aware of how buildings are constructed, etc. it is advisable to engage the services of a qualified surveyor who can monitor building works on your behalf.  The surveyor will ensure that building work is carried out in accordance with any plans and/or specification that the builder is working to, and that good quality workmanship and a safe site is maintained.
